The right size comes down to the wall, not just the art. As a rule of thumb, a single piece should fill about two-thirds to three-quarters of the open wall space above furniture. Over a sofa or bed, that usually means a canvas around two-thirds the width of the furniture below it, hung with its center near eye level, roughly 57 to 60 inches from the floor.
For an empty wall, measure the width and height of the area you want to cover and enter them above. The calculator suggests canvas dimensions that leave comfortable breathing room around the edges, so the piece feels intentional rather than cramped or lost. Large rooms and high ceilings can carry oversized prints or a multi-panel set, while smaller nooks usually look best with a single medium piece.
